Sleep Out Saturday
November 1, 2008
Sleep Out Saturday 2008 was a great success! Thank you to all the groups and individual “Stars” that participated this year. There were a total of 63 groups throughout DuPage County and over 60 individuals and families.
Groups and individuals accomplished the following:
- Raised funds to support Bridge Communities programs
- Raised public awareness of the silent epidemic of family homelessness in DuPage County
- Raised empathy for those who are less fortunate
The event began with a rally which took place at the Crescent Boulevard municipal parking lot in Glen Ellyn. Approximately 1200 participants arrived by bus, van, car or on foot to enjoy music by Flipside, stage presentation by CBS2 News Rob Johnson, testimonials from past Bridge Communities veteran group leader and participants and videos of Sleep Out Saturday peer leaders and pop star Jordan Pruitt! The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to express their support of Bridge Communities.
